Mesa Resources would like to drill a 3000 ft horizontal lateral at a total vertical depth of approximately 5500 feet in the fractured limestone of the Marble Falls formation. Our well, in Abstract 380 of northernmost Jack County, Texas, will be situated amongst wells producing from five commercially viable zones — the Caddo Limestone, Marble Falls, Conglomerates, Ellenberger, and Strawn Sands.

Tectonic activity and overbearing weight fractured the hard but brittle limestone creating a low porosity but continuous reservoir. The organic shale below the Marble Falls provided hydrocarbons to fill the fractures. The area surrounding the well’s location include stacked multiple pay opportunities, and oil cuts in the area surrounding the location are higher than in other areas of the Marble Falls averaging 25% and above. A horizontal lateral will aid in the production and deliverability of the reservoir due to a more sufficient drainage of natural fractures and secondary porosity, compared to vertical wells which are restricted to draining near-wellbore hydrocarbons.
